devdas to dev d...

Dev D is a modern-day love story. Dev, Paro and Chanda of Dev D reflect the sensibilities, conflicts, aggression, independence, free thought, exuberance and recklessness of the youth of today. A generation that is jammed between eastern roots and western sensibilities.
Dev D is set in the rustic and colourful Punjab and also explores the dingy, morbid, dark underbelly of Delhi. It takes us from sprawling mustard fields to a riot of neon; from Punjabi ballads to mayhem in rock.

Anurag Kashyap manages entertain as well as deliver the idealistic changes in man. dev d, the modern day devdas has come to the point of no return.

The days of those age old devdas's have long gone. What has replaced love is lust. Today, lust has overpowered that emotion of feeling and sacrifice for the other. There was no better way to potray this hairpin u-turn but to ride it to the super-sized curtains on the horse-back of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's classic love story Devdas.  Superbly including all those news items we generally talk about by saying - 'Why doesn't anyone do something about it? Are the authorities sleeping?' kashyap has proved the worth of the grand scale cinema and its influence.

Turning around the classic novel into a sattire on the society Dev D brings forward the yet unexposed glossy picture of high-class-booty-filled Indian society. Keeping the tracks set as they were (with slight detours) Kashyap has managed to change the train plying on these tracks from the passenger Kolkata Express to the superfast Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi. The characters in Dev D - Dev, Paro, Chanda, Chunni weave together the main headlines of any newspaper in the last 5-10 years.

It will not be wrong to say that Indian industry ha grown both in skill as well as tolerance for newer ideas. The direction is what they call 'Non-Linear'.
This modern Devdas brings into light various mundane events that are getting common in India. Starting form disregarding parents, to the late night party culture, to the druggism, to the manipulative crowd around. Chunni here has been very cleverly replaced by the cunning pimp pushing the already not-in-balance people into the abysmal of sexism and nashabaazi. The story of DPS-MMS scandal has been used to build the character of Chandramukhi.
The attempt to put everything together may have succeeded to some extent but the fact still remains that is the Indian crowd ready to digest this heavy storyline? Can such movies be upgraded from the B-grade cadre of movies (altough this movie was released as a main steam flick) ?

The music of the movie is exceptional and is probably the only thing binding the people to their chairs (if the answer is NO for the above question that is). Yet, as a remake(yeah, yeah! Kashyao vey categorically says this is not a remake.. so lets put it as re-using the concept), this movie is sure to make a flag on the chronology of the development of cinema in India. The general thing with remakes is using the same storyline with a twist in the end. This on the other hand integrates the concept into the modern values, ideals, needs and hence gives out the DEV D instead of the DEVDAS.

Ode to the Nice Guys

This is so awesome that I couldn't resist putting it in!!! ... this artikle has been picked up from http://www.stwing.upenn.edu/~jenf/writing/rant04.html. This rant was written for the Wharton UnderGraduate journal.

This is a tribute to the nice guys. The nice guys that finish last, that never become more than friends, that endure hours of whining and bitching about what assholes guys are, while disproving the very point. This is dedicated to those guys who always provide a shoulder to lean on but restrain themselves to tentative hugs, those guys who hold open doors and give reassuring pats on the back and sit patiently outside the changing room at department stores. This is in honor of the guys that obligingly reiterate how cute/beautiful/smart/funny/sexy their female friends are at the appropriate moment, because they know most girls need that litany of support. This is in honor of the guys with open minds, with laid-back attitudes, with honest concern. This is in honor of the guys who respect a girl’s every facet, from her privacy to her theology to her clothing style.

This is for the guys who escort their drunk, bewildered female friends back from parties and never take advantage once they’re at her door, for the guys who accompany girls to bars as buffers against the rest of the creepy male population, for the guys who know a girl is fishing for compliments but give them out anyway, for the guys who always play by the rules in a game where the rules favor cheaters, for the guys who are accredited as boyfriend material but somehow don’t end up being boyfriends, for all the nice guys who are overlooked, underestimated, and unappreciated, for all the nice guys who are manipulated, misled, and unjustly abandoned, this is for you.

This is for that time she left 40 urgent messages on your cell phone, and when you called her back, she spent three hours painstakingly dissecting two sentences her boyfriend said to her over dinner. And even though you thought her boyfriend was a chump and a jerk, you assured her that it was all ok and she shouldn’t worry about it. This is for that time she interrupted the best killing spree you’d ever orchestrated in GTA3 to rant about a rumor that romantically linked her and the guy she thinks is the most repulsive person in the world. And even though you thought it was immature and you had nothing against the guy, you paused the game for two hours and helped her concoct a counter-rumor to spread around the floor. This is also for that time she didn’t have a date, so after numerous vows that there was nothing “serious” between the two of you, she dragged you to a party where you knew nobody, the beer was awful, and she flirted shamelessly with you, justifying each fit of reckless teasing by announcing to everyone: “oh, but we’re just friends!” And even though you were invited purely as a symbolic warm body for her ego, you went anyways. Because you’re nice like that.

The nice guys don’t often get credit where credit is due. And perhaps more disturbing, the nice guys don’t seem to get laid as often as they should. And I wish I could logically explain this trend, but I can’t. From what I have observed on campus and what I have learned from talking to friends at other schools and in the workplace, the only conclusion I can form is that many girls are just illogical, manipulative bitches. Many of them claim they just want to date a nice guy, but when presented with such a specimen, they say irrational, confusing things such as “oh, he’s too nice to date” or “he would be a good boyfriend but he’s not for me” or “he already puts up with so much from me, I couldn’t possibly ask him out!” or the most frustrating of all: “no, it would ruin our friendship.” Yet, they continue to lament the lack of datable men in the world, and they expect their too-nice-to-date male friends to sympathize and apologize for the men that are jerks. Sorry, guys, girls like that are beyond my ability to fathom. I can’t figure out why the connection breaks down between what they say (I want a nice guy!) and what they do (I’m going to sleep with this complete ass now!). But one thing I can do, is say that the nice-guy-finishes-last phenomenon doesn’t last forever. There are definitely many girls who grow out of that train of thought and realize they should be dating the nice guys, not taking them for granted. The tricky part is finding those girls, and even trickier, finding the ones that are single.

So, until those girls are found, I propose a toast to all the nice guys. You know who you are, and I know you’re sick of hearing yourself described as ubiquitously nice. But the truth of the matter is, the world needs your patience in the department store, your holding open of doors, your party escorting services, your propensity to be a sucker for a pretty smile. For all the crazy, inane, absurd things you tolerate, for all the situations where you are the faceless, nameless hero, my accolades, my acknowledgement, and my gratitude go out to you. You do have credibility in this society, and your well deserved vindication is coming.

        <_title>zindagi .. jedi paheli koi na samajh paaya<_/title>

            it all comes .. goes back .. comes .. goes back .....
all just flows away never to come back.
why doesn't the water just stay..
the tree<_%=he%> always stands, stooped down by the
weight<_%=her>, kissing the river. the river<_%=she%>,
but the river never comes back...
the tree just gives away all it has .. the leaves .. of all colors, shapes,
sizes.. to find in return her going off without a word.
he says keep it coming.

var demands[];
//demands is an infinite loop.
var he[];
//he is the thing standing in queue of a number of he's waiting to fulfill the      demands.
var she;
//she is an object having numerous manifestations.

if (she.manifestations == angry)
he.do = sing a damned old song || buy a damned gift || take for long ride ||      make physical moves ||  talk for long hours;
if (he.getAttributes == sad)
she.return = null;
if (she.manifestations == happy || thrilled || normal)
he.do = somehow maintain the situation('PHEW!!');
she.return = null;
he.do = :( ;

OK, this blog has already shown that how a stupid programming job reflects on the way you communicate.
next, it also illustrates the role of the female species of the society.
its been long and getting to terms with the absence of a shoulder to weep on i have realized that u don need one. the support u get only makes u weaker and weaker until that day when this support will be forcefully removed. the only buttress will begin to tremble and give way. the walls around crumble under the pressure and just fall off, leaving a mark of devastation.
it becomes simple if the wall hanging fall off with the walls, but they dont, they keep on hanging and haunting. the daunting task is then to either move out of the region and to to a place where the view gets clearer without any walls or any wall hangings or to stay there working hard to rebuilt the damned walls or to just let time fade off things. the drive to get back, the motivation to feel that softness, that smoothness, that feeling ...

nevertheless ..

it keeps on rolling ..
